La liberté de la presse est un combat permanent contre la censure. Comment exercer le métier de journaliste au 21ème siècle ?
Pour en parler, GénérationLibre est heureux d’accueillir Peter GRESTE, reporter et auteur. Correspondant australo-letton, il a travaillé pour Reuters, CNN et la BBC, principalement au Moyen-Orient, en Amérique latine et en Afrique. Arrêté fin 2013 par les autorités égyptiennes, puis libéré, il s’est ensuite consacré à la défense de la liberté de la presse. Ce mercredi 14 novembre, Les éditions de l’Observatoire publient la traduction de son dernier ouvrage « Voyage d’un reporter au pays de la censure ».
Pour lui donner la réplique, nous accueillons Anne NIVAT, reporter de guerre et docteur en sciences politiques. Indépendante, elle s’est spécialisée dans les zones les plus sensibles du globe, et publie notamment dans le magazine Le Point.
Gaspard KOENIG, philosophe et fondateur du think-tank GénérationLibre, introduira les échanges.

Freedom of the press is constantly threatened by censorship. How can journalists properly do their job and report the news in the 21st century?
To (try to) answer these questions, we are hosting Peter GRESTE, reporter and writer. He’s an Australian and Lithuanian correspondent who worked for Reuters, CNN and the BBC, mainly in the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. Arrested at the end of 2013 by the Egyptian government, then freed, he has since then been fighting for the defense of a free press . Wednesday, November 14th, Les Editions de l’Observatoire will release the French edition of his latest book The First Casualty.
Anne NIVAT, PhD in politics and war reporter, will be leading the debate . As a freelance journalist, she has covered the most sensitive regions of the world, andis a regular writer in the French weekly magazine Le Point.
Gaspard Koenig, philosopher and founder of the think tank GenerationLibre will introduce these exchanges.
